Russia announced the sale of another batch of S-400 missile system to Turkey

MOSCOW, (BM) – The head of the Russian corporation Rostec, during a meeting with the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, announced that Russia is preparing to supply the second batch of S-400 complexes to Turkey’s armaments, learned BulgarianMilitary.com.

“The obligation was fulfilled ahead of schedule and the S-400 Triumph air defense missile system was delivered to Turkey, this is the first contract of this scale to a NATO country, the amount of the contract amounted to $ 2.5 billion. Now we are working out a possible second part of the supply,”said the head of the Rostec corporation Sergei Chemezov.

It should be noted that despite Western media statements that Turkey was dissatisfied with Russian air defense systems, Turkey decided to purchase another batch of Triumphs, which indicates that these Russian weapons more than proved themselves during tests on F -4, F-16 and supposedly F-35.

According to some reports, the acquisition by Turkey of the second batch of S-400 complexes will cost Turkey a slightly lower amount, in particular, sources said the price was 2-2.1 billion dollars.

On the other hand, experts draw attention to the fact that Ankara has not yet commented on the acquisition of another batch of Russian S-400s.

Talks between Turkey and Russia about second batch of S-400 systems began some time ago

Negotiations between Russia and Turkey on the delivery of the second set of S-400 Triumph anti-aircraft systems are in an advanced stage, BulgarianMilitary.com reported on June 2 this year.

“Negotiations are underway, this is a laborious process that requires a certain amount of time. But given the current restrictions in connection with the pandemic, it is not very grateful to predict the terms of concluding this contract,” the head of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC) Dmitry Shugaev said then.

Shugaev noted that at the moment the parties are awaiting the final decision of Turkey.

Turkey promises allies to protect their secrets

Yes, as we reported earlier this mont and according the words of head of the Turkish Defense Industry Directorate Ismail Demir, Turkey has promised to protect the secret data of the Russian S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems from leakage as well as the data of the fifth-generation F-35 American fighter.

In response to US concerns about the S-400, Ismail Demir said: “Turkey will launch the S-400 alone to protect the F-35 program and its weapons systems.”

He also said that Turkey promises Russia to protect data from S-400 systems, the newspaper said. “Russia has expressed concern about the S-400 data, and Turkey promises to protect these systems.”

Russia and Turkey signed a multi-billion dollar contract for the supply of S-400 Triumph air defense systems in 2017. The deal provoked strong discontent from the United States. Washington threatened Ankara with sanctions, and then expelled her from the F-35 fighter program.

On April 30, an official representative of the Turkish leader, Ibrahim Kalyn, announced the suspension of the transaction for the supply of S-400 systems due to the coronavirus.

S-400 Triumph is an anti-aircraft missile system capable of destroying modern targets of an air attack, including ballistic missiles. The detection range is up to 600 km, the radius of the cover zone is 400 km.

According some sources, Turkey already has activated S-400

Russian air defense systems S-400 “Triumph” took up combat duty in Turkey and can now be used directly for their intended purpose – to protect the country’s borders from any external air threats and missile attacks, we already reported on July 20.

Such conclusions follow on the basis of the fact that the United States of America announced the imposition of sanctions against Turkey – the latter should have been imposed only if Ankara adopted Russian complexes for the country’s armament.

Information on this matter was announced by Congressman Adam Kinzinger, noting that the sanctions have already been actually introduced – only the formal consideration of this bill in the US Congress remains.

“Today, representatives of Adam Kinsinger, Abigail Spanberger and member of the House Foreign Representatives Rating Committee, Michael McCall, introduced a bill that would impose sanctions on the Turkish government for acquiring the S-400 air defense system from the Russian Federation” said the congressman’s website.

“Turkey continues to make dubious decisions that do not reflect the leadership of the NATO country, and a year ago this week Turkey ignored warnings of NATO members about this arms deal with Russia and adopted its first batch of Russian-made S-400 missile defense system. We need to make it clear that their actions will not be tolerated and will have serious consequences. Our legislation will do this and position Turkey’s actions as a clearly punishable crime,” said also the congressman’s website.
