Introduction of the Research Center for Geopolitics of Central Asia (RCGCA),Xinjiang University
With the support from the government of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region(XJUAR), the Research Center for Geopolitics of Central Asia (RCGCA) was founded on the 23rd November 2011 as a thinktank as well as a key institution for studying humanities and social sciences in XJUAR.
The aim of RCGCA is, based on credible academic research on the central Asia, to provide policy advice to the government, to promote the local development, to facilitate the inter-national academic exchange, and to serve the regional peace.
RCGCA has 15 Permanent Research Staff. It has 4 series of publications, namely, Newsletter, Briefings, Analysis Articles, and Annual Report, which enjoy high reputation domestically in both academia and policy circles.
RCGCA has established cooperative relationships with other think tanks including China Institute of Contemporary International Relations, Institute of Russia, Eastern European, Central Asian Studies Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, etc..
RCGCA’s research covers politics, security, diplomacy, laws, social development of the Central Asia. Recently it focuses on the Great Power politics in this region, roles of the regional powers, Islamic extremism and de-radicalization, the transition of the central Asian countries and their governance during the process. Besides, RCGCA keeps close eyes on issues relevant to XJUAR.
RCGCA has organized series of domestic and international conference on the above mentioned topics. It also receives visiting scholars from abroad.
