Abstract: The Khitan, an ethnic minority in the northern part of ancient China, was highly sinicized. In 1134, the Khitan established its regime in Balashagon — a huge Western Liao Empire in the Western Regions. When the Western Liao regime ruled the Western Regions, it transformed the local politics, economy, and culture by introducing the political system of Central China. The regime lasted nearly for a century. During this period, the power culture, economic culture, and military culture of Chinese culture spread widely in the Western Regions, which produced a profound impact on the Western Regions and promoted the integration of ethnic cultures in the Western Regions.
